Sept 2019

A reviving identity that synthesizes Digbeth’s cultural heritage and cultural resurgence, connecting the two with a bold, energetic use of type, shape and colour influenced by the surrounding area.

01/02 Brand colour scheme + Typography

The typeface is a hybrid representing old and new. Two contrasting typefaces are juxtaposed to feel diverse, quirky and lively. It combines Out of the Dark’s old-style serif font GZA, alongside the sans-serif font Modern Era by OMSE Type.

03 Poster Design

The lower-right geometric pattern is an abstraction of Digbeth’s iconic viaducts with the Birmingham skyline behind against the sky.

The pattern is seen again on the tote bag design below.
